We Have A Solution for Homelessness in Knoxville

— and You’re Already Involved..

Like it or not, this problem has your name on it. You’re already playing a role.

The only question is: which one?

There are 3 roles in the solution.

Pick yours. Right now. Or stop pretending you care.

Role 1: The Spotlight

You’ve seen all versions of homelessness. On corners. On medians. Outside gas stations. Tents and Tent cities. Collapsed in alleys. Panhandling. Spaced out. Talking to ghosts.

And you’ve got a phone. Use it.

Film it. Post it. Blast it all over social media. Or Send to BackRoomKnox@protonmail.com for us to post.

Show the RAW truth, the public decay, exactly how it is. ONLY video in Public spaces ONLY.

No filters. No sugarcoating. There is 0 (zero) permission needed to record, if in public. Zero.

This isn’t cruelty. This is exposure. The kind of exposure that forces people to react.

Because comfort is the enemy of change.

And guess what? You will piss people off. Especially role #2, a BRIDGE. Good. You’re waking them up.

Role 2: The Bridge

You saw the viral social media footage that BackRoomKnox and other SPOTLIGHTS posted of the homeless. And it made you sick. Not just at the suffering — but at the fact someone would record it and post it.

Good. That’s your conscience screaming.

Now do something.

Go be the person you wish the guy or gal with the camera had been.

Go find that person who was recorded — that wreck of a soul.

Ask them if they’re hungry. Cold. Sober. Dying.

Get them food, medicine, a hotel room or just a human moment. Sponsor them long term, or find another BRIDGE who can. Rinse and repeat.

Don’t have a clue how? Or You want someone else do to it?

Because if you’re not willing to get your hands dirty, maybe you should shut up about how someone else did it wrong.

Better yet — reach out to that person filming and team up.

Be the one who helps or tries to fix what they exposed.

Role 3: The Ghost

If you can’t film, and you won’t help — you can still spread the message.

That’s a role too. Hit follow on https://www.facebook.com/backroomknox

Hit share. Tell others.

Or scroll past and admit it: you’ve chosen to do nothing.

There are only three roles.

You’re already playing one.

So which is it?

1. Spotlight; 2. Bridge; or 3. Ghost.

Pick. Right now. Help us bring a spotlight to the homeless:

❓FAQ’s – Two sets & One for the Homeless Who Will Not Accept Help

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1: Is it legal to film homeless people in public spaces in Knoxville, Tennessee?

A1: Yes. In the U.S., the First Amendment protects the right to film anything in public where there is no expectation of privacy — sidewalks, medians, parks, alleys, etc. Never film in private spaces (bathrooms, shelters, or inside vehicles/homes). If you’re unsure, don’t post it — send it to us and we’ll review it.

Q2: Isn’t it cruel to record someone who’s suffering?

A2: What’s cruel is ignoring it. Documenting the public decay forces society to confront what it wants to ignore. No one is being mocked — they’re being seen. It’s uncomfortable by design. That discomfort is the spark that gets others to act.

Q3: What if someone gets mad that I’m filming?

A3: Stay calm, stand your ground if you’re in a public place, and be respectful. You have the right to record in public — but also use common sense. If it escalates or feels unsafe, leave. You’re not a vigilante. You’re a witness.

Q4: I want to help, but I can’t give money or housing. What else can I do?

A4: Be the bridge. Bring food, hygiene items, socks, or even just a conversation. Connect them to someone who can help. Or partner with others who are already helping. Compassion doesn’t always require cash — but it always requires effort.

Q5: Isn’t this just exploiting the homeless for views or clicks?

A5: No. This isn’t entertainment — it’s exposure. If the footage makes you uncomfortable, that’s the point. We don’t blur the truth — we shine a light on it. These moments are meant to shake people out of apathy and into action.

Q6: I can’t film, and I’m not in a position to help personally. Is sharing really that important?

A6: Yes. Every time you hit “share,” you multiply the chance that someone who can help will see it. Silence feeds the problem. Spreading the message amplifies the solution. Don’t underestimate your role.

Q7: Where do I send my footage or stories?

A7: Post on your social media or Send directly to our page inbox or email them to backroomknox@protonmail.com. We’ll review them for legality and safety before publishing. Anonymous submissions are welcome.

Q8: What if I want to stay involved long-term?

A8: Then you’re not just playing a role — you’re joining a movement. Reach out. We’re building networks of Documenters, Restorers, and Advocates. Let us know which role you’re stepping into, and we’ll plug you in. Help via The Amazon Wish List

Q9: Is this a political campaign? A non-profit? A ministry?

A9: None of the above. This is a movement of exposure and action. No red tape. No meetings. No begging for donations. Just people doing what needs to be done — by showing, helping, or sharing.

Q10: What if someone I recorded turns their life around? Can I share that too?

A10: Absolutely. We don’t just expose pain — we celebrate progress. If someone finds recovery, shelter, or purpose, let’s share it. Documenting recovery is just as important as documenting ruin.

FAQ for the Homeless Individual Who Won’t Accept Help — and Keeps Trashing the Place

Q1: Why are people filming me? Isn’t that harassment?

A1: No. If you’re in public, people have the right to record. It’s not harassment — it’s accountability. If your camp is wrecking a sidewalk or piling up garbage, people are going to notice. And now, they’re going to post it. That’s not hate — that’s reality. This is Not California. You can’t poop on the sidewalk.

Q2: I don’t want help. I just want to be left alone.

A2: That’s fine — until your choices start affecting everyone else. Piles of trash, open drug use, and human waste don’t stay private. They spill into communities, parks, sidewalks, and storm drains. That’s not just “your business” anymore. You live outside — and like it or not, outside is shared space.

Q3: I didn’t ask to be filmed. I didn’t ask for this life.

A3: True. Life hit hard. Maybe harder than most people can understand. But here’s the deal: people have tried to help you. You said no. Over and over. So now you’re seeing a different kind of attention — exposure. Because saying “no” to help doesn’t give you a free pass to trash everything around you.

Q4: Why are people so angry at me? I’m not hurting anyone.

A4: You are hurting people. Not with fists — but with needles in playgrounds, feces on sidewalks, and trash on doorsteps. Kids walk by this. Workers step over it. Businesses lose customers. That’s real harm. If you’re not ready to clean it up, expect people to call it out.

Q5: So what do you want from me?

A5: Simple: Pick a direction.

If you want help — ask. There are people ready to give it.

If you want to be left alone — don’t destroy the place you’re living in.

If you keep refusing help and causing public decay — don’t act shocked when cameras show up. This is the consequence of inaction and destruction.

Q6: What if I’m just surviving the only way I know how?

A6: Then evolve. Adapt. Survive better. Survival isn’t just about eating — it’s about impact. You want respect? Start by respecting your surroundings. Don’t poison the space everyone else shares. We’re not asking for miracles. We’re asking for minimum standards.

Q7: What if I still don’t care?

A7: Then understand this: the world around you will care — and they’re no longer ignoring it. If you choose to rot in public, you’ll be seen. If you choose to destroy, people will respond. You may not want help — but you will get attention. Your move.
